Caring for Kids is a 501(c)3 dedicated to assisting the families of Brisol and South Bristol. Our mission is to support the needs of families with nutrition, education, clothing, personal hygiene and much more.
We currently pack over 135 Snack Packs each week. Each pack includes 8+ pre packaged snacks and 2 to 3 servings of freshly washed and prepared fruits and vegetables. We estimate each pack costing about $5.48, this varies weekly depending on the fresh produce.
On vacation weeks amounts are doubled.
are packed, picked up/ delivered each Friday at the New Harbor Fire Station. Family food boses include breads, meats & cheeses, breakfast items, snacks, diapers, personal hygiene items etc.
There are currently 20 families/ 75 people enrolled in this weekly program, in addition to weekly snacks packs we total over 200 people benefiting from these free services. This doesn’t include the hundreds of people that utilize our two 24/7 food pantires.
Which are located outside of the New Harbor and Bristol Mills Fire Stations.
Volunteers check these pantires daily, with hundreds of people untilizing these, keeping them stocked has been a huge challenge. Nonperishable items, such as, canned goods, soups, spaghetti, rice, and anything only requiring water to make, are high demand items. Personal hygiene items and seasonable items such as, hats, mittens, sunscreen, etc. can be found in the pantries.
*We are currently working with South Bristol to get a pantry like ours added to their town, in Walpole!
Starting in 1992, this program provides Bristol and South Bristol families with extra help around the holidays. Weather appropriate clothing, books, local gift cards, personal hygiene items and toys are given to hundreds of children/teens each year.
This year families had the opportuinity to sign up for full sets of winter gear ahead of the holidays to ensure each child was properly equipped for the changing weather.
Our once again shop is located beneath the Bristol Mills Church, next to Debs Diner, open Monday through Saturday from 10-2.
A bottle return shed can be found in front of the building, proceeds benefiting our programs.
